Maryful Legwarmers

Mary wanted orange legwarmers, so I made them for her!  Don't they look cute?

And I also know that y'all are thinking, "Thank Gandhi!  It's not another hat pattern!"

See silly Myka in the background?

Here's how I made them:

sts- stitches
CO- cast on
BO- bind off
k- knit
p- purl
m1- make 1 st by picking up and knitting the bar in between 2 sts
sl- slip st
garter st- k all rows

-US size 10.5 (6.5 mm) straight knitting needles
-Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Carrot
-Tapestry needle

Legwarmers (make 2, unless you have a different number of legs):
CO 36 sts.
Work in garter st for 5 rows.
Row 6:  k1 * m1, k1, sl "made" st over the knitted st * repeart from * to end of row
Row 7:  P all sts.
Repeat rows 6 and 7 until work measures approx. 13.5 inches.
Work in garter st for 5 rows.
BO all sts.

Sew up sides.
Weave in your ends.

  1. Does bind off mean the same as cast off

  2. "m1" means to make a stitch. This can be done in several ways, some make a hole, some do not.
